Are you talking about the bracket that has the shifter bushings in it? If so,I have mine tightened up fairly tight, but by no means torqued. What i would do would be to take the console apart and remove everything to the point where the short shifter apparatus is exposed, everything short of taking it out. Then just kinda play around with it a bit to see what`s blocking the shifting action. Is your like mine......a chrome shifter rod and a shifter ball/base assembly that came in 2 separate pieces? That`s how mine was shipped to me. Did you assemble the shifter properly? On mine, the chrome shifter rod unscrews into 2 separate pieces then the lower part is inserted thru the shifter ball/base,and the then the top of the shifter rod is screwed back onto the lower part. I actually installed mine into my car with just the lower part of the shifter rod inserted thru the shifter ball/base,then once I had the base installed in my car,I then screwed the top part of the shifter rod onto the lower part, completing installation. Keep in mind that the shifting action will be ALOT stiffer than the factory shifter. Mine`s very stiff, but feels extemely precision and exact.
